A Bit About Me
I started out my gymnastics journey at Basildon Gymnastics club when I was just 5 years old in the Woman’s artistic program. I then started Rhythmic gymnastics when I was 11 years old, after losing my confidence and drive.
I competed Nationally in both disciplines, enjoying my time as a gymnast very much.
I continued my journey as a coach in Rhythmic Gymnastics, achieving my Level 4 coaching award, first with Basildon Gymnastics club then continuing when we amalgamated with 2 other clubs to form South Essex Gymnastics Club.
I have had great success within my coaching journey, coaching gymnasts that have reached the Worldwide stage, British and English National Squads, both mainstream and disability and have been lucky enough to have travelled far and wide. I have been truly blessed to have worked with some amazing people, including the Gymnasts and Parents that I am still in touch with. I have truly made friends for life.
Within my coaching journey I have also qualified and coached Pre-School and Disability gymnastics and have not long hung up my coaching gloves. I have been Head Coach of our Pre-school program and Head of our Rhythmic program.
I have always had a huge passion for Safeguarding and Child protection and have been a Club Welfare officer at South Essex for many years. I have also volunteered for British Gymnastics as a Regional Safeguarding Officer. I don’t always get it right, but I work hard with the Team and British gymnastics to always find the answer, feeling huge pride in all we do at the club to make the sport safe and inclusive for all our members.
I have an amazing Safeguarding Team that is ever growing and lots of plans to continue to make South Essex Gymnastics Club a safe and fun environment for everyone, no matter what their ability.
I very much enjoy working with the athletes within our Elite program on their mental health and wellbeing, working with their families, schools, and performance team to make their journey as smooth as possible, whilst enjoying their experience.
The focus of my role is to assist Scott Hann in the running of the gym. I have worked with Scott for many years now and look forward to our continued work as a team. I’ve watched and grown so much as a Manager and am always striving to better my knowledge and personal growth.
