The weekend saw a fantastic showing from South Essex Gymnastics Club at the Welsh Championships, with gymnasts stepping up to test their skills, refine their routines and take crucial steps towards future goals.

A Senior Debut to Remember!

A huge congratulations to Alex Niscoveanu, who made his Senior competition debut representing Wales. As his first step toward Commonwealth Games 2026 selection, Alex delivered a standout performance, finishing 2nd All-Around and claiming multiple apparatus medals including an impressive Gold on Pommel Horse. This marks an incredible start to his senior career and we can’t wait to see him continue to develop at this level.

Building Towards the English Championships!

Alongside Alex, our English gymnasts were also in action, using this event as a key warm-up competition ahead of the upcoming English Championships.

Courtney Tulloch showcased brilliant new routines, including the debut of his brand-new triple back dismount on Rings, which he absolutely nailed!

In the U14 Welsh Open, Kaydn Jackson took the top spot, claiming Gold, while Dylan Wright and Deshai Knights rounded out the podium in 2nd and 3rd place.

Reuben, Isaac and Harry also delivered strong performances, setting them up perfectly for the English Championships.

The Comeback Story: Danny Crouch & George Atkins

One of the most inspiring moments of the competition was seeing Danny Crouch and George Atkins back in action after long recoveries from major injuries.

Danny competed on Vault, Parallel Bars and High Bar for the first time in three years.

George returned to competition on all six apparatus after a two-year hiatus.

Their resilience, determination and passion for the sport were on full display and it was fantastic to see them back where they belong, competing!

Looking Ahead!

With such a strong showing at the Welsh Championships, the team is now fully focused on the English Championships. The performances have provided confidence, momentum and valuable experience, we are excited to see what our gymnasts can achieve in the next competition.

A massive well done to all our athletes and as always, a huge thank you to our coaches, support teams and families for their unwavering dedication.

Stay tuned for more updates as we build towards the next big challenge!
