Rhythmic National Grades and Zonal Championships

Yesterday (19th February 2023) was the Rhythmic National Grades and Zonal Championships held at the University of Worcester.


A lot of practise and hard work had gone into the preparations for the competition with every gymnast hoping to achieve success. All South Essex Gymnastic Club gymnasts competing were coached by the talented Danielle Paul who worked very hard with the girls to make sure they accomplished the best results possible.


After many months of training and dedication, the stage was set and it was time to compete and the gymnasts representing South Essex Gymnastics Club did us extremely proud.


The results were as followed,


Grades

Eleanor achieved 4th place with hoop, 3rd place with ball and 4th place overall in grade 5.

Josephine achieved 3rd place with hoop, 4th place with ball and 3rd place overall in grade 5.

Pippa achieved 1st place overall, as well as 1st place with hoop and ball in grade 6.

Lily-Rose achieved 5th place with hoop, 2nd place with ball and 2nd place with ribbon in grade 9.

Ava achieved 2nd place with hoop, 6th place with ball, 9th place with ribbon and 6th place overall in grade 9.

Sophia achieved 1st place with hoop, 1st place with ball and 2nd place with ribbon in grade 8.

Jade achieved 6th place with hoop, 4th place with clubs, 3rd place with ribbon and 4th place overall in grade 10 and senior zonal.

Katie achieved 1st place with hoop, clubs, ribbon & overall in grade 10.


Zonal Championships which ran alongside the grading

Eleanor achieved 4th place with hoop, 3rd place with ball and 4th place overall in under 10 zonal.

Josephine achieved 3rd place with hoop, 4th place with ball and 3rd place overall in under 10 zonal.

Pippa achieved 2nd place with hoop and 2nd place with ball in under 12 zonal (her age group was combined with the year older for zonal).

Lily-Rose achieved 5th place with hoop, 2nd place with ball, 2nd place with ribbon & 3rd overall in junior zonal.

Ava achieved 2nd place with hoop, 6th place with ball, 9th place with ribbon & 6th overall in junior zonal.

Sophia achieved 9th place in junior zonal.

Jade achieved 6th place with hoop, 4th place with clubs, 3rd place with ribbon & 4th overall in senior zonal.

Katie achieved 1st place with hoop, clubs, ribbon & overall in senior disability zonal.


Final words from Head Rhythmic Coach Danielle Paul - "I was extremely proud of all the girls for the hard work, determination and team spirit they showed on the day and in the preparation leading up to the competition. Every gymnast showed the improvements they have made over the past year and some incredible performances. Now we wait to find out which level each gymnast will have qualified for, for the year ahead."


We are all exceptionally proud of the girls who competed.
